Column Control Unit
The Oregon Physics Column Control Unit (CCU) is a multichannel USB High Voltage Digital-to-Analog converter designed to drive electrostatic lens electrodes for static and slowly changing voltages such as beam steering. Multiple CCU configurations are available, including custom-calibrated units, in order to best meet customers’ specific needs and applications. Relay outputs and analog comparator inputs are also provided for valve control, etc. The CCU also handles other system integration tasks, such as high voltage power supply and vacuum interlocks.
CCU Features and Specifications:
- Two octupole mixers for driving octupole steering electrodes using DAC channels
- Safe control of vacuum systems by pressure sensors, overriding the host computer if pressure is above setpoint
- Dedicated comparator channel and relay interlocks all internal high voltage power supplies against cable pulls and insufficient vacuum level, preventing damage to steering/stigmation electrodes
- Drivers supplied by Measurement Computing® for Windows® 11/10/8/7/Vista/XP, 32-bit or 64-bit, Linux®
- Compatible with Labview®, DASYLab®, MATLAB® and Linux®
- Support for Visual Studio® and Visual Studio® .NET, including examples for various languages such as C++ and Python
- Software configured for application: DAC channel to amplifier mapping is fixed for simplicity, though analog comparator configuration and relay output power configuration is done through PCB pads
- 16 channels of 16 bit analog output
- Software selectable to 16 bits over bipolar range or positive output range only
